Some Old News from 2016..

STFC Athletes Win 21 Provincial Medals During Summer 2016

Led by gold medal performances by Tony Elliott (U17 hammer and discus), Emily Branderhorst (U17 high jump), Jeremy Elliott (U15 hammer) and Ryan Jacklin (U15 javelin), Saugeen Track and Field club athletes earned 9 medals at the Royal Canadian Legion Provincial Track and Field Championships in Timmins, Ontario on July 8th and 9th.  Other medals were won by Jeremy Elliott (silver U15 discus and bronze U15 shot put) and Jessie Byers (U15 1200m and 800m).

Saugeen TFC athletes also won 9 medals at Athletics Ontario Bantam, Midget and Youth Provincial Championships in Windsor on July 23rd and 24th.  Ryan Jacklin (midget shot put silver, javelin gold and discus silver), Jeremy Elliott (midget shot put bronze, discus silver and hammer bronze), Tony Elliott (youth hammer gold and discus bronze) and Emily Branderhorst (youth high jump bronze)

Not to be out done by the Senior athletes, Saugeen TFC juniors won 3 gold medals at the Minor Track and Field Provincial Championships in Mississauga on July 23rd and 24th.  Ben Brewer (atom shot put), Samantha Fischer (senior shot put) and Jessie Byers (senior 1500m).

Jez Leads Saugeen Contingent at OFSAA Cross Country

Congratulations to the six Saugeen athletes who competed at OFSAA cross country in Port Hope on November 5th.  The group was lead by a 14th place finish by Brooke Jez in the midget girls event.  Other results ... Ethan Kruisselbrink 21st (junior boy), Samara Quanz 33rd (midget girl), Sam Nusselder 77th (senior boy), Liam Fitzgerald 107 (midget boy), Spencer Whitehead 160 (midget boy).

Saugeen Senior Girls Silver Medalists at Provincial Championships

Congratulations to the STFC senior girls who won the Ontario Minor Track Association Senior Girls cross country running championships silver medal on October 29th in Stouffville, Ontario.  The Saugeen team was comprised of Emily Bryce, Brooke Jez, Samara Quanz and Chloe Rands.

Congratulations to the 31 athletes who competed at the International Youth Meet of Champions in Toronto on December 9th to 11th.

STFC alumni Gribbons and Vanderzwet selected for World University Games

Congratulations to STFC alumni Kelly Gribbons and Kyla Vanderzwet on being selected to represent Canada at the World University Games in Almaty, Kazakstan at the end of January and early February 2017.  Gribbons will be a member the Team Canada women's hockey team and Vanderzwet will be a member of the Team Canada nordic ski team.  Both Gribbons and Vanderzwet remain on several Club all time top 10 performance lists.  Good luck ... we will be cheering you on

Jacklin Leads STFC at Youth/Midget Nationals in Montreal

Saugeen's Ryan Jacklin led the STFC contingent at the Legion National Youth/Midget Track and Field Championships in Montreal.  Ryan brought home the bronze medal in midget boys javelin with a throw of 52.18.

Top 10 finishes included Emily Branderhorst, 4th youth girls high jump (160cm), Tony Elliott, 4th youth boys discus (39.42) and 4th youth boys hammer (56.19), Ryan Jacklin 6th midget boys shot put (13.61) and 9th midget boys discus (39.42), Jeremy Elliott 8th midget boys shot put (12.90), and Matthew Donnelly, 8th in the midget boys 800m (2:04.00).

Great job by all the STFC'ers who competed in Montreal.
